Current Projects

Here are pages which show some of the work that is currently in progress. The 25ft Ex Royal Navy Motor Cutter has been a long-term project and I work on it when time permits. She’s now the largest vessel in my care and has to live outdoors under tarpaulins in a yard with no mains power and limited facilities so not the easiest to work on. She’s also the only powered vessel in the collection but I think she’s interesting enough to have been worth saving and a particular boat I’m keen to learn more about. See the 25′ Motor Cutter History and Specifications as a starting point for reading about this boat.

I have had a long association with the National Redwing Dinghy having ‘saved’ my first Redwing when I was a teenager. We regularly sail and race my ‘new’ Redwing, R228 ‘Pintail’ at Tenby SC where the fleet is now growing again. These 14′ boats are small enough to get into the workshop for repairs and maintenance and I’m currently fitting out R248 ‘Robin D’ ready to be measured.

This little 12′ dinghy did not need much work and looks nice now she’s freshly varnished. Click below to read about her.

‘Curlew’ is a recent addition to Clinker Boats’ collection of projects and will be an interesting little boat to work on. A sympathetic restoration is planned and it is hoped to re-use her original cotton sails. Click below to read more about ‘Curlew’…
